Corporate Social Responsibility

Aujan Group Holding (AGH) is committed to supporting the communities in which it operates with a focus on initiatives tailored towards conservation, health and education.

This commitment is inspired by Aujan’s visionary Chairman, Sheikh Adel Aujan, whose entrepreneurial spirit and sense of adventure lead him to develop business projects and support a range of conservation activities in Southern Africa over the last three decades. His significant contribution to conservation in Africa includes a rhino breeding program in the Stanley and Livingstone Game Reserve in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe as well as an unflinching support for the vast wilderness of the Niassa National Reserve, Mozambique.  His wish was to ensure the long-term survival of the diverse habitats and wildlife thriving within these unique locations.

The story of the Luwire Wildlife Conservancy, as Niassa’s first private concession, began in 2000 when Sheik Adel made a successful bid to manage the 4,500 square kilometers of pristine wilderness.  Since that date, Luwire has been operated as a sustainable hunting and photographic safari concession. It remains one of the most significant wilderness areas within the Niassa Special Reserve with an incredible diversity of flora, fauna and landscape.

To this day, Abdulla Aujan carries on his father’s legacy.  Luwire is now constituted as a US and UK charity but the strategic focus is definitively community based conservation.  Luwire seeks to turn the local communities into long term guardians of their natural habitat.  This is a sustainable legacy of which Sheik Adel Aujan would be proud.
